Carin Leon Boca Chueca Tour made it to the United Center for two nights in Chicago. The performance was inspiring, with Carin Leon and his banda flawlessly executing songs across genres in English and Spanish.
Carin Leon Chicago 2024
My aunt and uncle, teen cousin, sister, and brother-in-law were the crew that joined me for Boca Chueca’s opening night in Chicago. We sat high up in the stands, looking down at the stage in the 300-section in the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls.
The Tik-Tok video below shows my family jamming to “No Es Por Aca.” It also shows impressive panoramic views of the United Center arena packed with concert-goers.

Carin Leon released his first solo album in 2017 and has since released hit collaborations with Grupo Frontera, Maluma, Banda MS, Camilo, and many others.
He’s also entered the English language music market.
Earlier this year, The Rolling Stones had Carin Leon as their opening act for their 2024 tour stop in Glendale, Arizona. Also this year, Carin Leon performed at Stagecoach, a country music festival where he became the first act to perform a Spanish-dominant setlist.

The 2024 Carin Leon Boca Chueca Tour is that of a seasoned artist who’s cultivated a crossover style that appeals to a growing number of Mexican-Americans.
Carin Leon Concert 2024 Setlist
We sang along to popular covers like Hombres G’s “Te Quiero” and Zapateamos to “La Boda Del Huitlacoche.” My sister and brother-in-law even got their salsa-dancing moment when the band played “Una Vida Pasada,” un tema al ritmo salsero, a salsa song by Camilo and Carin Leon.
The concert flowed seamlessly through Nortenas, Banda, Salsa, Rock, Country, and a medley of music genres.
Carin Leon’s sound is jazzy, soulful, and reminiscent of the country music you’ll hear in Nashville, Tennessee. His covers of “More than Words,” “Don’t Stop Believing,” and “Tennesse Whiskey” support his M.O., which is to transcend genres, cultures, and language through a love for all music. He performed the latter two songs at his Chicago Boca Chueca performance.
Below is a list of songs from the Carin Leon 2024 Concert Setlist. The TikTok video shows clips of these songs performed live in concert at Chicago’s United Center on September 19.

With a Growing Number of Bilingual Mexican-Americans, the Carin Leon Boca Chueca Crossover Style is the Moment
I am a Mexican immigrant who came to the USA when I was five. Growing up in a Spanish-speaking household while attending school and socializing in predominantly English-speaking spaces, I became bilingual early. My parents introduced me to a range of music: songs by The Rolling Stones, Celia Cruz, Mana, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Mariachi, Banda, El Buki, Bob Marley, Louis Armstrong, Shakira, you name it.
Watching the Carin Leon Boca Chueca Tour performance was like seeing myself on stage. I’m a music lover, raised on tequila, and have an acquired taste for Tennessee whiskey.
